Encounter #3: OUTCOMES

Psychedelic Soul will engage with the community over three encounters. These panel discussions examine the scope and breadth of the influence of the Summer of Love on the African American community.

This third encounter in the Psychedelic Soul series addresses the outcomes of the period of radical counter-culture and how African American artists and free-thinkers applied their craft, and exercised their ideals, imbibed with the liberating lessons of the ‘Summer of Love.” The event will also feature a funky band and offer an exciting finish to the series, presented by the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) and the California Historical Society.

Panel includes:

  • Faye Carol (Educator and Perfomer)
  • Linda Tillery (founder of the Cultural Heritage Choir)
  • William Calhoun (founder of the Black Panther Party band The Lumpen)
  • Moderated by Rickey Vincent, author of Party Music and lecturer at UC Berkeley and California College of the Arts.

Join us for a party with live music on hand to bring the series to a raucous conclusion!
