Haight Ashbury Neighborhood Council
Jun 8, 2017
The Haight Ashbury Neighborhood Council began in October, 1959 with a meeting to oppose a proposed freeway through the Panhandle and the neighborhood, and continues as a progressive neighborhood organization today. Our June meeting will explore what the Summer of Love meant for the existing and new residents of the Haight Ashbury, and what it means for us today. Our panel will include: Stan Flouride, local historian and tour guide; Holly Harman, author of Inside a Hippie Commune, Arthur Round, Oracle staff member, and Diamond Dave Whitaker, poet, radio host, and local legend.
